For a car that age and size with a slushbox, it seems acceptable to me. I don’t think my NA diesel Citroën of the same era was much faster.

Why wasn’t it getting anywhere near 6000rpm?

I used to own a Festiva... for max accelleration you need to wind it to at least 5500rpm.

Of course mine was a manual and not the 3 speed slushbox.

Man is that PAINFUL to watch. The 80's sucked worse than I remember.
